Firm history

Partners Paul N. Uricchio, Jr., Arthur G. Howe and Barry Krell founded our firm in 1971. Over the years, the firm has grown and our lawyers have changed. However, our traditions of client and community service have not. Our attorneys are well known and respected members of the Charleston community. Our longstanding local ties make for better service from a firm with a proven record of results.

Firm philosophy

We pride ourselves on delivering large firm experience and expertise with the personal touch and service that is the hallmark of smaller firms. We practice law with the understanding that you expect us to listen to your story with patience and courtesy and answer your questions with honesty and candor.

A visit to our office

When you come to us, whether because of medical malpractice or because you need a criminal defense lawyer, we treat you like the honored guest that you are. We make you comfortable and listen carefully to your concerns. We explain your legal options and advise you about the benefits and disadvantages of each one. We make sure we understand your goals.

How we operate

We strive to make consulting an attorney as easy as possible. Our office hours are from 8:30 – 6:00; we can also visit you at home, in the hospital or in jail if you cannot come to us. We take credit cards, accept personal injury cases on a contingency basis, charge an hourly fee for many family law matters and provide criminal defense services after receiving a retainer based on the type of case. Contact us to learn more about our fee structure.

Our legal practice

We focus on those legal areas that many people may need during their lives. We have a thriving personal injury practice, handling car crashes, truck accidents and more. If you have any type of family law matter, however complex, we will support you throughout an often-contentious process. If you have been charged with a crime or had your building project ruined by the negligence of a contractor, we can help.
